Kvinnor i Skogen
In December 2020 visual artist Linda Persson decided to move from London after 20 years. Brexit and the pandemic was the reasons to restart another way of living. Moving into the Småländska highland forests she decided to start a pod project as a way to learn about her colleagues also living amongst the trees. The focus is to find female, queer and non-binary artists working as professional artists. It is a slow and long-term project and already there have been some changes. In the program series which is predominantly in Swedish the pod will cover interviews with visiting artists as well. These will be announced as special editions and often conducted in English.
The image to the left shows artist Åsa Jungnelius placing her glass works for an exhibition. In Ep. 2 you can hear us chat about her chice to move to the forest and about her journey as a glass designer come artist.
Special editions
As the project evolved and I have established a place where I live, artists are now visiting and staying here in the forest from time to time. In September 2022 the Samoan-Australian queer performance artist Brian Fuata stayed with us for a week. Brian is an amazing artist who started his work process from a poetry / live art origin. His work around the Ghost has been a main focus for the last 11 years. He won the artist prize at AntiFestival in Finland 2020 and arrived in Kupio in 2022 to complete his commissioned work Intermission. We will release a 50 min podcast discussing Brians process and commission alongside why he finally have parted with the Ghost. We are planning a future performative work together ignited by the forest and the hunters towers. Stay tuned.
